Richard Ramirez known as “The Night Stalker” was an American serial killer, rapist and burglar. He was one of the most horrendous serial killers who terrorized California in the 1980’s.
Ramirez was born in El Paso, Texas, on February 29, 1960. He was the youngest of Julian and Mercedes Ramirez's five children. During his childhood, Ramirez lived with an abusive father who often relieved his anger towards him. Throughout his early years, he suffered two major head injuries that later affected the developing of the child. When he was two years old, a dresser fell on top of him that caused him a forehead laceration that required thirty stitches to close. Three years later, he was knocked unconscious by a swing at a park which caused him to experience frequent epileptic seizures that continued until his early teens.
As a twelve year old he was strongly influenced by his older cousin, a veteran named Mike who had recently returned from fighting in the Vietnam War. Mike told Ramirez fascinating stories about the torture and mutilation he had done to several Vietnamese

When he was still in school, he took a job at a local Holiday Inn where he used his passkey to rob the hotel rooms. His employment ended after a hotel guest returned to his room and found Ramirez attempting to rape his wife. The couple later testified against him with criminal charges. Ramirez's criminal record began in 1977, when he was placed in juvenile detention for a string of petty crimes. He also received a probationary sentence in 1982 for marijuana possession. He soon moved to San Francisco, California, and then to Los Angeles, progressing to cocaine addiction and burglary, and cultivating an interest in weapons and Satanism. Theft turned to violence in
