All through history, people have been overly ambitious in the pursuit of power. However I think that Richard Nixon takes this to a whole new level with his attempts to control the results of the 1972 presidential election, and it eventually led to his downfall both in politics, and the eyes of his fellow Americans.
People may say that Watergate wasn’t as it was made out to be, and that the entire thing was overblown, but they are wrong, not only was it as bad as the public originally thought, it was worse (Woodward). Nixon once he was elected president, which was likely achieved through a series of sketchy dealings, thought he could do whatever he wanted, and for the five years that he got away with it, he was right.…
