Richard Nixon's Importance And Visibility In The Office

Richard Nixon was able to provide a sense of importance and visibility in the office. He would often sit in at National Security Council meetings when Eisenhower was absent. He was visiting foreign countries in hopes of sharpening American policies on the Cold War. As president of the Senate, Nixon helped ensure the passage of Eisenhower’s approved bills including the 1957 Civil Rights Bill. On a trip to Venezuela in 1958, Richard and Pat Nixon were bombarded by rioters where they were threaten with death. Nixon attracted international notice for his ability to remain calm in the face of anti-American demonstrations.
Eisenhower sent Nixon to Moscow in July of 1959 to represent the United States at the opening of the American National Exhibition.
