Once upon a time, in a dark kingdom, there was a raging brutal war. The king of the old kingdom named Postfallia, sent for his son. When his son Richard J. Williams 14th walked into the room, their eyes met, and Richard Jr. instantly knew by his father's gaze, that he would soon be the recipient of bad news. Richard Sr. sat his son down and told him that with the death of his dearest general in the line of duty, he must call upon his son to take up arms and lead the kings army. The following weeks Richard Jr. spent all of his time training, and learning the tactics of battle, as well as the makings of great leaders. Upon the Prince's arrival on the front line, he was immediately appointed to general, and taken to the tactic tent. The prince …show more content…
The new general raised his sword in the air, and let out a mighty battle cry, signaling his warriors to charge into the camp and attack. They had caught the enemy completely by surprise and within an hour they had slaughtered most of the opponents, victory was in sight. The rival general fought his way to Richard Jr., and was ready to fight to the death with his comrades. Richard Jr. and his adversary seemed to be in a stalemate, both were highly skilled and trained and neither could land a strike. Finally a hole in the foe's defense was taken advantage of by the prince, and he landed a fatal blow to the chest straight, through his adversaries hear. Just when the battle seemed to be coming to an end a stray arrow with no discernible origin flew straight into Richard Jrs side, forcing him to be taken back to the capital city for immediate medical attention. Over the next couple months the prince spent his time not only recuperating physically, but also emotionally. Taking every one of his enemies lives during the battle did not seem to be such a hard burden at the time, but then Richard Jr. realized it was insurmountable grievance. The prince soon learned that the arrows was not his true enemy, but the lives of so many men being taken

The attitudes towards values are revealed when comparatively investigating texts separated by centuries, reflective of the beliefs in one’s society. When a social belief system is challenged, individuals being to question the absence of values such as moderation and integrity in their contribution to the downfall of an individual regardless of contexts. A challenge towards the belief of providentialism in Shakespearean society is explored in King Richard III, portraying the impacts of an aspiration of power towards one’s humanity, rejecting God’s will for an improved social position. This notion is reimagined by Pacino in Looking for Richard to mirror the social ideal of the Great American Dream enabling individuals to pursue their goals but similarly criticises the lack of restraint and integrity when one utilises immoral…

As John Gillingham says himself, Richard “was a warrior who lived all his life at the centre of the political stage only to die in an obscure sideshow in a place no one had ever heard of. ”2 Chronicles of the Third Crusade (1189-1192) praised the courage and virtues of Richard I. One account especially, called the Itinerarium and probably due to several…

Richard III, like all people, has had many choices to make. Although some of those choices Richard made were bad, some people wouldn’t blame Richard for what he chose. They would argue that, because people, in Richard’s time, treated Richard like a monster, he later had his revenge. Though this could be a valid argument, Richard had a choice in everything he did. He could’ve chosen to forgive those people for their wrongful actions, but he instead chose to become the monster that they thought he was.…

As I said in my post, and like you have stated in yours, doing wrong is the key. Richard is “making use of his wrong doings.” According Machiavelli's book, the key to being a successful leader actually has absolutely nothing to do with doing the right thing or being a nice person, but instead it has everything to do with being a bad person, doing wrong and knowing how to be manipulative and sneaky. Richard is a prime example of what a good Machiavellian villain is. I completely agree with you in saying that Richard doesn’t really mess up, you are right.…

This reveals that Richard will go to any lengths he needs to get the crown he bluntly lied to his own brothers face to ensure that Clarence still trust him until he dies. This was just the first step though and while doing this Richard was setting up the second step as well because when Richard has the murders kill Clarence he uses that to finish off King Edward. At a gathering with the king somebody ask about Clarence, and Richard uses that time to tell them that he is dead and King Edward in his bad health takes it personally, and he replies with: “O God, I fear thy justice will take hold / On me- and you, and mine, and yours,…

This chronicle of the third crusade is controversial, despite its accuracy and the many details it contains. There is indeed a dispute over who wrote it and when. Nonetheless, the depiction of Richard I in the text is absolutely laudatory. Richard is presented as the perfect knight, from the most noble birth, with a perfect complexion, outstanding military skills and a genuine piety. Next to this model of perfection, the French king, Philip II, is almost invisible.…

“For most of us, Richard the Lionheart has been ensconced since childhood in a pantheon which includes King Arthur, Robin Hood and other legendary – if not mythical- figures: and as a “folk hero” […] it is unlikely that he will ever be dislodged. ”1 That is, at least, the view of John Gillingham, a British scholar, specialist of Richard I, but not of all historians, who have generally more conflicted opinions on the Lionheart. Richard I is still, to a certain extent, seen as an English hero. It was even truer in the Middle Ages, when kings were often compared to Richard, thus Edward I in 1272 was described as the “new Richard. ”2…

    1. Describe your understanding of attachment/or brain development prior to reading the Perry Book Prior to reading the Perry book, my understanding of brain development comprised of what I studied from former classes in my undergrad, which was that brain development transpired throughout an individual 's life but performed a substantial role in early childhood. I understood that brain development in the early years pretty much paved the road in how an individual would develop into a teenager and later into an adult. If a child had a bad upbringing, then that would set them for struggles in teenage years such as perhaps deviant behaviors or acts of crime, but if a child had a good childhood then they wouldn’t face as many struggles in their…

In closing I do not think there is any better way to view Richard with pity, perhaps it is seeing the best in people. Because when he was King and even after he was a terrible person: comparing himself to Jesus, covering up murders of his family, ignoring family and treating them like dirt while their dying but through the final acts passages his intelligence seems to give insight to an unprepared King, who was also was more concerned with fashion then running his motherland. With that being said he just comes off in the end as being a…
