The Most Dangerous Game is a book that is about a stranded man that gets hunted by a former Cossack. It was a book published by Richard Connell on January 19th, 1924. The movie was filmed in 1932. The integrity of the story is affected by the many differences and similarities in the areas of initiating event, characterization, and plot between the story and movie, The Most Dangerous Game. You will be able to see for yourself if the integrity of the story was or wasn’t affected by the changes of the movie. The differences in initiating events are sometimes drastic. At the start of the book it is two men talking on the deck of the yacht. Rainsford is one of them and he is the main character. On the other hand, in the movie many characters are speaking below deck and many of them have unknown names. Again, in the book Rainsford falls off the ship trying to see something. However, in the movie the whole yacht crashes with the rocky coast and some people survive. In contrast, when Rainsford reaches the palaces, in the movie, Ivan is not there when Rainsford knocks, and eventually opens the door. Conversely, in the book Ivan is there and opens the engraved door, he also has a small …show more content…
In the movie it has many added characters and unnecessary occurrences. The movie adds an alcoholic man and his sister; they also add many more mercenaries for Zaroff's use. In contrast in the book the only characters on the island are Rainsford, Zaroff, Ivan, and the captives of Zaroff. At the beginning of the movie, on the yacht, you can see all the sailors that were aboard the ship. However, in the book the author only writes about the conversation between Rainsford and Whitney, which ends up Rainsford falling off soon. Later in the movie, Zaroff uses a bow and then changes to a rifle. But in the book he uses the smallest caliber pistol and that's the only real weapon that he does
