The most important point of comparison between the three readings was that each story talked about trying to adapt to the American language in the eyes of an immigrant. Some of the important points of contrast between the three readings each young woman came from different backgrounds. For instance, in the reading of “Facing Poverty with a Rich Girl’s Habit” Suki Kim came from a wealthy background where she had maids, governess, a driver, and more, but life turns for the worst and her family must move to America at the age of 13.
