Martin’s job involved reviewing around a billion cases dealing with rich people and their families and belongings. Erzinger’s crime was committed during a July day in Colorado. The crime was a result of Erzinger hit a surgeon with his car and did not stop and continued on the path. The surgeon’s name is Dr. Stephen Milo. Some of the injuries he has endured are the following: spinal cord injuries, bleeding from his brain, a damaged knee and a damaged scapula. Emergency personnel only learned of the injured surgeon due to Martin calling an auto body shop since his Mercedes had been damaged in the contact with the bike rider. Amazingly Erzinger was given a misdemeanor charge. The District Attorney in charge of this case, Mark Hurlbert, gave Erzinger a minimal infraction out of being worried Martin would lose his job if given a larger sentencing …show more content…
The court needs to find a way to make all levels of wealth have an equal playing field. The thoughts most people fail to realize is that some people are born into wealth and believe they should get whatever they want. On the opposite side if the spectrum, some kids are abused by their own family members and run away to numb the pain. The events that commonly follow are prostitution and addiction. The rich should not have loop holes and more opportunities to achieve a minor punishments. When asked the question “Do rich people get off punishments easier?” Sergeant Jim Sanders of the South County Police Department had a lot to say. “As a police officer, I try my best not to discriminate against any type of person. I hold everyone to the same standard no matter the race nor gender. Unfortunately, the court system does seem to let the more fortunate people have an easier way out.”
