I will add a very versatile vibe unto the campus of Rice University in all entireties. If I were judged based upon physical appearances alone, in which quite often I am, I'd be a stereotype, but as one engages in the most simplistic form of conversation with me, my level of intelligence speaks for itself. I am a very positive spirit, never in a bad mood, and welcoming of all walks of life. I am the student, who attempts to break the ice, and relates to everyone on a universal topic, so that we can all agree upon a common discussion to start great friendships. My energetic personality is only a façade to conceal all of the trials and tribulations I have endured. I became the head of the household, and began to accept responsibilities that were unanticipated until life further down the road years after high school. I work two jobs, to obtain a hard work ethic, and solidly prepare myself for the workforce in today’s society. I also maintain an honor roll streak, while trying to create a path, molding footsteps for my younger siblings to walk in. Attempting to install in them, the morals and values my mother has woven in my heart. The only strength I have is that blessed upon me by the grace of God, whom plays a huge role in my life. I practice Christianity, and to the best of my ability, live by the rules of the Holy Bible. My journey does not end after high school, yet it only starts, I feel as though Rice would be a great place to begin. Now that senior year has arrived, my mother is more present in our lives, yet returning more poisonous than ever. Now with a disgusting smoking habit, she seems to be growing closer to the woman she told me not to become. However, despite the snippet of my struggles, I am a student whose determination to succeed is a rigid force not to be reckoned

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. As a result, I've excelled in my studies and my family continued to ridicule me because I loved being in school. My personality matured to an independent individual. Furthermore, I'd rather figure every single thing out on my own, since that's the way I've grown up. I've grown up, up to this point, without my father and my mother barely around from work. Yet, no matter what, I remain thankful that they attempted to become remotely involved.…

But then during my 10th through 11th grade years I began to experience verbal and mental abuse at the hand of a family member. At one point I had run away from home to get away from my problems.…

This question has no definite answer, but hard circumstances pushed me as an individual to stand up for what I believed and break away from the standards and ingrained thinking of my parents. Making these decisions for the protection of myself was hard but it was also that kind of thinking and decision-making that pushed me into the adult world. I finally saw my parents as flawed human beings and challenged them to see me as an adult and listen to my voice in this situation. I began my educational journey at Georgia State University as an enthusiastic pre-medicine major with a very unrealistic goal of taking on the world. I told myself I would sacrifice anything to become a doctor, including accepting the possibility of never having children due to how hard it would be for me to spend quality time with them. I constantly worried about the finances required for my education, if my parents had the necessary funds to pay their bills, and much more. As far as my academic performance, I was never satisfied with my science grade point average. I felt inferior to my classmates who seemed to absorb and comprehend information at a faster rate in comparison to me.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…
