Rhonda's Bullying Chapter Summary

What I found interesting and surprising about the book is the part when Katie and her grandma are going to the hairdressers because it is the Christmas dance at her school so she wanted a new look. What Katie noticed for a while by talking to the hairdresser Rhonda, is that Rhonda is Shane's mom!

What I thought was good for others to read and learn from this book is when Shane got in trouble and confessed his bullying problem to the principal. after that time, Shane was a brand new person. so basically, people can change if they just ask for help.

If other people start to read this book and they are getting bullied or if that person is reading this book and is a bully, this will show them that there is a way to always solve problems like

She wrote this book so beautifully it opened my eyes, I constantly complain about my parents and how they are so noisy about knowing what is going on in my life. It is better to have noisy parents then irresponsible ones. She used such powerful words that made you want to continue reading. The strengths of this book are that is it an easy read, it makes you grateful and also it opens your eyes and makes you realize that not everyone’s family life is just like yours, some people are raised differently than you are. Even though I really enjoyed this book I did find a few weaknesses, one being that at times it was difficult to read and not because of the wording but because of the content.…

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby is a fantasy book about perspective. A main topic in the book is the difference between looking and seeing. It includes imagery of fantasy, different views of self-image, and the heavy burden that beauty can be and the detrimental ways we look at and treat women. It can be dreadfully tense and there is this feeling of anxiety that runs throughout the novel. The book is romantic when it needed, empowering where it counts, and is simply beautiful in its telling.…

This term I started out with what I thought was a pretty easy reading goal. My goal was to read at least two hours every week, not counting the time we read at the beginning of English. I read many articles, mostly things from Buzzfeed, and The Onion. I also started rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when I was in school, outside of school I just finished reading A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Overall I don’t think I met my goal, because some weeks I wouldn’t read at all and other weeks I had read for probably fifteen hours or more, and I never had a very consistent reading schedule.…

When teaching about this topic, this is something middle school students might be interested in, they could have a younger sibling that they might feel obligated to protect. I clicked on “What we do” and then under Library clicked on “Fact Sheets.” Next I clicked “Bicycle, Skate and Skateboard Safety Fact Sheet 2016”…
