Rhonda Holman (Hopkins) was born on October 23, 1962. She was born in Tulsa and didn’t move until she was ten, and didn’t move again until she got married. Mrs. Hopkins parents didn’t like the new law that let both white and black children take the same bus, so instead the Holmans moved just outside of the county. This made it so that Mrs. Hopkins had to ride a bus every day for forty-two miles, for one trip. Living on the county line was difficult, have a church somewhere in the middle of three different counties but having friends that went to three different schools. Thankfully Mrs. Hopkins had a friend that went to band with her and only lived half a mile away from her home. Mrs. Hopkins is part Cherokee but not on the Indian roll. An
