Inflammatory forms of arthritis cause prolonged stiffness in the night and morning along with joint swelling and pain and generally improve with activity. Although Mrs. Watson’s reports limping at the end of the day, her psoriasis could always be a factor.
By testing (x-ray of joints, joint fluid testing, blood tests) Mrs. Watson for psoriatic arthritis, it will help determine whether it is actually psoriasis linked or muscular as previously mentioned (Gardener & Matsen, 2014).
It may take some time to determine if Mrs. Watson has psoriatic arthritis, as usually if the nails and skin are affected along with joints a concrete diagnosis can be made.
