Rhetorical Situation Analysis

When I first arrived back to America at the age of five, I did not know a word of English. A few months after my arrival, my English enhanced dramatically because of my teacher’s motivation and guidance; she encouraged me with her stories about learning English. In order for me to tell my story, I need to think about the rhetorical situation. With the completion of my essay, I was able to achieve the Course Learning Outcomes after I wrote my story.
Before writing, I thought about my audience. Considering my audience will be my professors, I need to add plenty of details while keeping my writing style formal. Then, I had to consider the genre. Since it is a literacy narrative, my writing has to be about a significant event in my life that involved reading, writing, or language. With that in mind, it prompted me to mention my English learning experience in preschool and how my teacher has encouraged me. This circumstance has always been important to me because it taught me that being hardworking will ultimately lead me to my goals. Consequently, I hope that my story can motivate others to work hard and not give up.

For instance, I understand how rhetorical situations come into play when writing; it is important to think about what, why and to whom you are telling your story. Knowing that will make your essay better. I was also able to develop certain strategies when writing. Such as creating an outline and using that to draft my final essay. Furthermore, I used a summary format to describe my English learning experience in America.
