President Barack Obama’s “Statement on the Orlando, Florida Shootings and President Trump’s Remarks on Las Vegas Shootings” were presented during times of crises. President Obama felt as if the Orlando shooting was basically an act of terror and an act of and Donald Trump felt as if the Las Vegas Shooting was an act of pure evil. On June 12, 2016, a 29-year-old security guard killed 49 people and wounded 58 others in a terrorist attack and hate crime. On October 1, 2017, a 64-year-old killed 59 people including himself and injured over 546 people in a mass shooting. Although both of these presidents were equally effective in their use of rhetorical devices. Omar Mateen was the shooter President Obama was referring to in the Statement on the Orlando, Florida shooting. Omar Mateen preformed this hate crime/terrorist attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Most of the victims in this massacre were Latinos and of the LGBT community. These presidents delivered their speeches in a way that will help get their message and condolences across the world, and to put an effect on the audience. They put that effect on the audience by using rhetorical devices. In Obama’s “Statement on the Orlando, Florida Shootings” he used rhetorical devices such as (enumeratio) and that’s basically when you make a point with details and Obama used this rhetorical device many times. He also used (alliteration) which is the recurrence of initial consonant sounds. In “President Trump’s Remarks on Las Vegas Shootings” he used many rhetorical devices. One rhetorical device he used was (anaphora) which is when the speaker repeats a word or phrase in successive phrases. He also used (enumeratio) which is when you make a point with
