People tend to shy away from talking about things that are uncomfortable to talk about. The act of taking someone’s life should not be taken lightly. How can someone as imperfect as a humans have the power to take someone else’s life. America is a God fearing country, which can be simply shown by the statement on our currency “In God We Trust”. God giveth life and God should be the only one with power to take it away. What about the prisoners that were wrongly convicted you cannot bring them back after they are dead. We all make mistakes or do things we should not have done, but that is okay because no one is perfect. “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction” (Newton’s Third Law). This ad specifically is geared towards an audience of younger girls, and the speaker is the 2011 girl’s scouts association. The purpose of the ad is to recruit these young girls, preferably the ones who are not being as proactive as they’d like, into this girl’s scouts association. The ad uses a variety of rhetorical appeals in order to capture the reader’s attention and provide an effective argument as to why one should join such an organization. The author appeals to logos by making the biggest picture, the one of the unproductive girls, hold the attention of a wide audience (as everyone can relate to boredom). The following pictures below it then offers a mean of “correcting” such a boredom, displaying the activities the girls would pursue…

Rowdy up a people and inspire thousands. As Bill Clinton explained in his DNC speech, “I want to nominate a man who’s cool on the outside, but who burns for America on the inside.” Based on the president’s speech, Obama appears to be a “down to earth” individual, one that is still fervent for the success of this country. Between the austere issues of “jobs, the economy, taxes and deficits, energy, education, war and peace” there are comforting and securing concluding sentences, and laughs from the president that lay a blanket of relief among the living crowd. This of course appeals to pathos, but as well as ethological properties.…

On September fifth of 2017, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that DACA will end in six months in order to give Congress time to find a solution for the 800,000 young immigrants that are part of the program. Sessions, the president and White House officials gave many reasons explaining the program’s removal, but these reasons were either false or one-sided. An article on Politifact written by Louis Jacobson, John Kruzel, Manuela Tobias and Miriam Valverde, points out all the flaws in Jeff Sessions’ announcement about ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. For example, in his announcement, Jeff Sessions said DACA ‘denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same illegal aliens to take those…

“(We have) more to do for the young woman in East St. Louis, and thousands more like her, who has the grades, has the drive, has the will, but doesn’t have the money to go to college (Obama, para 6).” Interestingly, he follows this statement with an attempt to dissatisfy one of the commonplace arguments against liberal policies. Mr. Obama says that these people do not ‘expect that government will solve all of their problems,’ but that they are willing to work hard in order to achieve their dreams. This seems to solidify Obama’s ethos with the audience, especially when combined with the specific scenarios that he uses to exemplify the need for his policies. The middle section of the speech is dedicated to the 2004 Presidential Election.…

Donald Trump is an egotistical maniac that must not be president. Trump is a man so unqualified to be president that I think even a five-year-old can do a better job than he can. America has stooped so low into electing this crazy orange man that I don’t even think I can see rock bottom anymore. Trump is a sexist, racist, self-centered, egotistical baby who is only looking out for himself and throws little tantrums on Twitter whenever someone offends him. This doesn’t even scratch the surface of who this man really is.…

The slogan that propelled Donald Trump into his influence across the nation, “make America great again,” shows that Trump sees America has fallen downhill and has hopes to improve it. Trump wants to see this country go back to the prosperous country it once was, but he does not know how to filter his words according to most, which makes him seem frightening. Despite Clinton’s accusation about the risk of Donald Trump, his clever use of scare tactics gives voters a sense of security because of his ideas concerning immigration and terrorism. According to Molly Ball, author of “Donald Trump and the Politics of Fear,” Donald Trump uses fear to his advantage in hopes of winning the presidential election.…

The Democratic National Committee invited Barack Obama to give the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic Convention. This news came as a surprise as Obama had not yet gained national attention, and was not an obvious choice when compared to other candidates. After his inspiring speech however, Obama became well known throughout America which was good news for John Kerry, as Obama’s speech was intended to persuade voters to support Kerry as president. Obama uses rhetorical devices such as climax in structure, epistrophe, and metonymy to persuade skeptical voters to vote for John Kerry as their next president. Obama makes his speech more convincing by using climax to split his speech into multiple sections; the first section is used…

Donald Trump has a dominant extrovert personality where he speaks before analyzing the impact his words can create. For example, on multiple occasions he has proposed building a wall on the Mexican border creating a divide between the Hispanic and the non- Hispanic population of USA. He has strongly supported the view that ALL illegal immigrants are of bad character and somehow are cause of increased crimes in USA. All his claims are not just preposterous but also based on weak assumptions. This and many such examples show that he is an extrovert whose behavior is generally disagreeable to majority population.…
