This was a great speech that really spoke to the audience on branding and licensing 101 held at the Governors room, Overman students’ center, Pittsburg State University. The speaker began with a compelling attention-gaining brands of Pittsburg State University and the resulting, impact on our colleges’ identity. This set up a clear problem that called for his argument that we need to recognize and identify the exact color, font and shape of our precious brands most especially the split face of our logo. He also established his ethos well early on, by being calm, friendly, looking directly at his audience at all times and speaking in a measured, clear voice that was well-varied and easy to listen to. At the same time, it was clear that he was not simply reading from his slides; his delivery was relatively natural although it was obvious he practiced and knew his material well. I really liked his pittstate home coming event analogy that illustrated that we respect our brands to gain higher benefits. He also engaged the audience well by asking for different examples of pittstate logo they’ve seen on campus and explained how to easily identify the licensed logo. Fliers were given to the audience that has list of licensed audience to work on these brands. In fact, I wish he had developed this further; it felt like it went by quite quickly.
