“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country 's representatives can figure out what is going on.” This was released by Trump’s campaign on June 28th of 2016—he is now the president-elect of the United States. Since 9/11, Americans have been taught to embrace islamophobia by big media outlets attempting to profit off injecting fear into the general public’s mind, spreading the bigoted owner’s bigoted views. The Arab woman speaks about being scared about not being accepted, and the white woman speaks about not knowing much about their culture. People that have experienced discrimination in their community can relate to the Arab woman’s fears, and a large portion of the U.S. population can relate to being initially in fear of Arabic people and women in hijabs. The shots that include the daughters are even shot at their eye-level, effectively making the text more relatable to children. All of the characters in the text get along and eat graham crackers and socialize at the end. The protagonist seems to be the Arabic mother, as the text begins with a monologue from her and an eye level close-up, making the viewer empathize with her. The daughters play the role of the catalyst, providing the common ground over which the two families can connect.
