In this way, the audience feels more able to relate with Lang which causes them to be more likely to trust her, and in turn listen to her intention. By believing her understanding and relatable nature from her point of view, the audience of proud Australians agree readily with her contention of reducing general alcohol consumption levels. Lang later goes onto use long winded paragraphs to explain her understanding of the subject: "we certainly need an urgent, multi pronged approach to tackle..." This in contrast to her earlier relaxed explanations of the opposition, creates a very noticeable tonal shift, which grabs the audience's attention.
