Michelle Obama delivered a speech in New Hampshire to pave a clear path for voters participating in the 2016 presidential election. Stressing equality, The First Lady, made it very clear that we need to elect a president that can unite American citizens as one. She defends her claim for Hillary’s vote by eradicating every uncivilized action directed towards women in Donald trump’s campaign. She crafts her argument with pathos, repetition and forms of diction to paint a vivid picture of the need for equality.

She chooses not to sugarcoat anything throughout her speech. She expresses how shocked she is when saying “a candidate for president of the united states has bragged about sexually assaulting women” (10). Her diction in the following quote is very intimate, it is not something that is said to the public. Michelle believes that “we’ve grown accustom to swallowing these emotions” (11), that belittle the persona of women. She chooses to use the word “swallowing” to create a more dramatic effect on her audience, by turning something that is done mentally in to a physical action. The speaker implies that “our little girls” (12) will receive the wrong impression about how they should physically look. Michelle inserts the word little before girls to stress how young Trumps audience extends. Moreover, the author shows her determination to rake in Hillary’s votes by using diction to strive for equality.
As a nation we need to sand up and do the right thing, not just for ourselves, but for our community. Nevertheless, Michelle Obama believes the only way to accomplish this goal is to vote for Hillary Clinton.
