One might say this is true because of how they promote their business. In many commercials such as “Grandmother vs. Granddaughter,” “New Dad,” and “Jordan vs. Bird”, McDonald’s uses rhetorical methods to appeal to their audience. For instance, McDonald’s made a commercial called “New Dad” in order to show their true morality and credibility. In the commercial, there is a new father driving around the McDonald’s drive-thru repeatedly trying to order his food. He does not stop the car because he wants to avoid the loud noise the car will make because he is afraid it will wake his new born baby. The McDonald’s crew members are confused at first but quickly catch on and try and take the new father’s order while he is steadily driving around the drive thru. The crew members do everything in their power to get the new dads order correct, not to mention, one of the crew members is so dedicated she jumps over the counter just to tell him how much his order is before he cycles around again. Slowly but surely, they are able to complete the task and give him his order. Soon after he receives his order, he gives them a thumbs up as a sign of gratitude for getting his order right. Ethos is shown in the commercial when the crew members went the extra mile to ensure that the new father had everything he needed without waking the new born baby. The behavior of the crew members can be considered remarkable because it shows they have good morals and everyday consumers want to be surrounded by positive people with a good character.
