This is like when an adult tells a child not to touch something, which results in him or her only wanting to touch it because he or she was told not to. They also argue that if individuals are considered legal adults who can vote and fight for their country, there should be no problem with them consuming alcohol. Opponents of lowering the drinking age in the United States claim that through the teenage years, the brain is still developing and can be harmed by alcohol use. She uses personal experience, as a person who has been immersed in two completely different cultures, to make her argument. Combined with her ethical appeal, she uses facts to show how the minimum legal drinking age and deaths related to drinking are related. She has accomplished her goal of bringing light to the underage drinking problems in the United States and calling for action. It is no doubt that the current laws surrounding alcohol consumption are being completely disregarded each day across America. According to Rogerson, a combination of exposure to responsible drinking habits and education would do more to prevent alcohol related deaths than the current laws have ever done.
