Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Fight Trump's Con Can T Last Forever

First Website: www.factcheck.org This is personally one of my most frequented websites because of the last election period. Factcheck.org is one of the oldest fact checking websites on the Internet today. Since starting in 2003, the website has made it a part of their mission statement to “increase public knowledge and understanding” so that viral and false rumors don’t run rampant in our society. Because of their goal to boost awareness, the website has always been very transparent about where they get their funding from. Most of their funds come from three major sources: the Annenberg Public Policy Center, the Annenberg Foundation, and the Flora Family Foundation. In 2010, the website just started taking donations from the public and they …show more content…
This is one of the oldest, continuously published weekly magazines in the United States and it doesn’t try to conceal its disdain against anything that challenges its classical liberalism views. On its front page, the website features stories relating to events that have happened throughout the last week and even as recent as that morning. One of their favorite subjects it seems is challenging President Trump’s every move. There are many articles that follow some of the same rhetoric as titles such as “Why Trump’s Con Can’t Last Forever” and “How to Fight Trump’s Racist Immigration Policies.” This particular online magazine requires a subscription. New users are only allowed six free articles before they have to subscribe to see the rest. They also have a donation page that allows users to donate money to the magazine so that they can continue to produce “change-making investigative journalism,” according to their mission statement. Although they don’t fully disclose where they are getting all of their funding like factcheck.org, this website doesn’t seem to be influenced by money in any way to slant their articles towards a certain political …show more content…
The website was founded and funded by Glen Greenwald, Edward Snowden’s right-hand man in exposing the NSA, and EBay’s cofounder, Pierre Omidyar. The obvious purpose of this website is to expose the truth on the injustices that are happening in the world around us without the public knowing about them. The website itself doesn’t lean in any direction other than anti-government. On their website they state they believe they have a responsibility to “bring transparency and accountability to powerful governmental and corporate institutions.” This is by far the most credible website I researched. Not only do they directly link their sources into their articles, but they include raw official documents on their website that coincides with their top news stories. Because of this, users can actually see the true information inside of having it be said through a filter like on the news or even other credible political websites. Without this website, I don’t think most Americans and other people around the world would understand how much the government tries to hide hard-hitting documents from the public. The work that theintercept.com is doing for the country, and even the world, is going to be really helpful during the next four years as we try to navigate the murky waters of Trump’s

This week I chose an article called Huckabee: There Better Not Be Doritos at Your Super Bowl Party by Kelly Frazier. The article discusses presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's distaste for Frito Lay's partnership with the It Gets Better Project which is aimed at fighting anti-LGBT bullying and giving hope to those who are being harassed. People who donated to the It Gets Better Project would receive via mail a limited edition bag of Frito Lay's Rainbow Doritos. According to the article Mike Huckabee's issue is that Frito Lay is affiliated with Dan Savage however nothing else is mentioned. Thanks to an article from ABC News I found out that Huckabee and Dan Savage have had a tumultuous relationship for several years.…

INT 420 Deona Sherrill Paper #1 There are literally thousands of web sites out there that claim to be news sources and many of these web sites are conspiracy sites and/or groups who think they can publish rumors as facts. This can wreak havoc on the internet and in some people’s lives and I think it is highly unethical to publish anything that has not first been proven to be true by finding the basis for their stories on facts and not rumors. I remember one story that flew the rumor mill last May about how the US Military was going to invade Texas or put Texas under Martial Law or at the very least was training our troops on how to put the entire United States under Martial Law. In reality, some of our special op troops were being brought…

Do people prefer to watch news with bias? One article of Greg Beato’s entitled "The Spin We Love to Hate" has seemed to present the argument that our media is biased, even though the majority of people prefer news be non-biased. Beato started off his article with a statistic that shows that 67 percent of people prefer that their news was non-biased, which he ironically states that the top news reporters have been doing the exact opposite. The author will go on to present a few examples of websites that analyze news stories for biases and fairness. Beato furthers along his paper presents the program known as SpinSpotter, this program allows users slash bias on websites, which allows other users of SpinSpotter to visit that site and become aware…

We the people live in an unnoticed darkness of our own creation. And in this darkness we are blind; blind to a self-fulfilling government with an alternative agenda. A government built on highly classified lies, and who believe in only one policy and one policy alone…”deny everything.” This systematic syndicate that we all have so casually come to trust has not only closed our eyes, but silenced our voices, as well as deafened our ears to the sound of extreme possibilities.…
