Colin Kaepernick, quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, stayed seated during the national anthem while the members of his team stood with their hands over their hearts. He received much hate but also support from people. I agree with his actions because of his purpose for it. Kaepernick says this protest is for the innocent black men being shot while the police just get a paid leave for their actions. Standing up during “The Star-Spangled Banner” shows a sign of respect to the men that fought for the freedom of this country. Although this protest may come off as rude and disrespectful, the racism and injustice that is happening has ruined the whole purpose of a free country.
