“Bottled Insanity” by Michael I. Niman is a very well written opinion regarding the usage of palstic water bottles. This text spefcifically uses the water bottle manufacturer, FIJI, as the main target in this argmuent. His main claim is that production of palstic water bottles hurt the enviroment. He tries to bring awareness to the hidden reprecussions of producing plastic water bottles for consumption. Although it seems like a good idea, Niman points out the faults in this sytem of manufacturing and attempts to persuades the reader to not give in to the consumption of these plastic products that kill ruin this planet.
Overall, Niman makes a well supported claim that water bottles are maybe not the best thing for our planet. He makes great points that are well supported and we even see a lot of illustrations on his part. These illustrations allow the readers to really grasp what he is saying and connect more with the topic at hand. The most effective thing that Niman does in this text is the use of examples and appeals. By giving phsyical evidence of what is happening as a result of these plastic bottles, the reader can connect. In addition, his appeals on the basis of logos, ethos, and

Niman builds up the FIJI water brand and is supportive of it’s design and satisfaction upon drinking. He then brings up a unnatural aspect about this great bottle of water. He states this aspect is “something that threatens the very existence of the tropical paradise depicted on the bottle.” This totally shuts down the idea of the supposed “paradise in a bottle”. The authors wording here brings pathos appeals into action and forces the reader to feel bad that this bottling company isnt all that good at what it does. This use of pathos is a great tactic of foreshadow before Niman dives into the details talking about the repreecussions of using these water
