Bill Gates gave a speech, titled Innovating to Zero, at a TED conference in 2010, on climate and energy. He talked about climate changes, the over use of energy and how, through technology, we can reach goals to conserve energy and slow down climate changes. The goal through his speech seemed to be to motivate and inspire the audience to be passionate to help the world reach these future advancements. To reach out to the audience being addressed, bill gates uses factual information, along with slide shows, to intrigue as well as appeal to peoples fear of what the future will be if we do not create climate changes for the better and energy conservation advancements. He announces this information after setting up a reliable background in the opening of this speech to let the audience know that he is worth them investing their time and faith into his ideas. Bill Gates goes on to explain how TerraPower works and lets the audience know it has not been released yet, but only tested in simulations. The speech starts to come to a close after Bill Gates talks about our goals and where our numbers should be in order to thrive in the future. He explains by pointing out the changes that can be made along with the challenges ahead and providing a time line, or how everyone should measure their achievements for this project. Gates states that by 2050 we need an 80 percent reduction and by 2020, which is not too many years from today, he thinks that we should try our best to significantly reduce the sum of Carbon Dioxide. Bill Gates advises that everyone needs to push full speed ahead to reach the goals set for our future. He persuades the audience by saying that if he could wish only one thing in the world, he would wish for this, for TerraPower, and the reduction of Carbon Dioxide. He then closes by urging everyone to get the message out and instills confidence in the audience by letting them know this is something he thinks can be
