However, the problem with secondary education is that as a student, they told me exactly what to write and exactly how to complete the assignments/projects. There was no room for a creative mind to speak her opinion in fear of being exposed as an individual completely different from the rest. In high school, I feel that the students just wanted to blend in and pray for this epoch to quicken its pace so that they may depart from that wretched place. The term “talking back,” is not just speaking to someone of higher authority as if you were an equal, nevertheless it also means to have your own opinion (Hooks). All women should not be obligated to search for their voice in a society or school system, but they should be treated with equal respect. However, when they are given the power and the opportunity to speak, one should have confidence and the audacity to speak her mind. In schools today such as secondary education, it has ceased the using of one’s opinion or being creative. In college, moreover, students are expected to have opinions and be creative with their voice as they see from other students’ perspectives. In my search for my voice and continued education I will respect the proper authoritative figures and learn from their knowledge.
