The inviting sign consists of the words “Avalon… cooler by a mile” with a pelican (see Appendix B). The designer of the sign uses the slogan and pelican strategically as a way to force the visitors to truly look at the sign. The pelican represents the stress-free and welcoming aspect of the town because all beings are invited to live or visit the diverse island and people can simply do their own thing with no judgment, like a bird simply flies with no questions asked. The slogan “cooler by a mile”, which is used for almost every souvenir, suggests that the longer a person stays on the seven-mile island, the further the person will understand and fully know the tranquil atmosphere. The colors used on the sign, similar to the website colors, make the visitors feel calm. The sign uses blue for the background color and yellow for the lettering (see Appendix B). The blue used on the website is the same blue used on the sign. Seeing the blue sign immediately shows visitors that Avalon is a place of soothing blue skies and serenity. Usually, yellow is used to represent happiness. The yellow is used as a youthful reminder to be happy, positive and relaxed when in Avalon, which reflects and validates the vibe of the
