Whenever I am at a dance party with a lot of girls and a Lady GaGa song comes on, there is a certain energy that sparks within them that differs from the other artists that are played. This energy comes from what Lady GaGa and her rhetoric means to her audience. Introduction Stefani Germanotta’s song born this way by first glance of the lyrics seems to try to excuse an immoral lifestyle. In the second verse she states that her Momma said that we are all born superstars, but if you look at Psalms 58:5 David writes, ‘The wicked are estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from birth. If we have been born with a sin nature and needing a savior then, we cannot be born superstars. This work, illustrated by Maarten Wolterink and published online, is one that tackles an issue very present in modern day society. Although only one event, an attack at an Ariana Grande concert in late May, the image attempts to address the incredible danger terrorism has on the world, especially with its drastic rise in recent days. Wolterink takes quite a different approach than many journalists or online creators likely would have regarding this issue, as he uses comic-esque art to convey his point. This choice in style, when paired with strong color and symbolic elements, construct a strong element and an argument, sound both logically and ethically. Although not every person is a fan of Ariana Grande, pop music, or even music in general,…

It is safe to say that whatever it is that the Billboard is honoring, it’s definitely quite a humongous feat that all of us should pay attention to. Aside from the yearly recognition that the US Billboard is channeling to honor the cream of the crop and the tireless manner by which they categorize who we should be including on our playlists to, the outfit is also holding a so-called Women in Music event. Running on its 11th installment for this year, Billboard is into giving huge regards to the women who made it and will make it on the course of their careers, empowering more and more femme fatales to come out of their shells and show the world who they are as passionate singers. True enough, the industry requires women power to make the wheel spin and with many female performers dominating the scene, it’s quite righteous for them to have a specialized kind of awarding system.…

In Maria W. Stewart's lecture in Boston in 1832, she conveys her position on the injustices of slavery and the cruelty that slaves experiences through the use of diction, figurative language, and her own personal experience. Altogether, these create a sense of injustice and desparity for the cause of the African Americans and their freedoms and aspirations to be something more than just servile labor. Diction is a major influence in this lecture. With a variety of words, such as "chains", "ragged", "drudgery and toil", "exhausted", "death", and "cruel", Stewart appeals to the feelings of people in an attempt to make them understand the hardships and extreme injustice that encompass the life of a slave.
