I chose to do my rhetorical analysis on how esports have a potential to be featured in the 2024 Olympics because videogames are a big form of entertainment across the world and are played by millions of people. According to the Entertainment Software Association a report was made in 2015 stating that more than 150 million Americans play video games and that forty two percent of Americans play video games regularly, or at least three hours per week. I also chose this topic because I’ve been playing video games for about ten years and because it's a relevant topic. Esports are competitive gaming events that consist of mostly tournaments played by professional gamers watched by millions of people across the world. The article I chose is Esports in consideration for 2024 Olympics by Kevin Tran.
The author is Kevin Tran and his credibility comes from his great reputation as he is a Research Associate for BI Intelligence he worked for a boutique management consulting firm and interned for Deloitte in San Francisco.
