Do I Deserve to Pass Eng1020 Class? “Do you like to write? What do you enjoy about writing? What is difficult about writing?” (Weaver 9). In the beginning the semester, Professor Weaver began with a list of questions. This is a good way to quickly learn about new students, while simultaneously learning their opinion on English and writing. For someone like me, who is definitely not a fan of writing, the answers to the questions posed were respectfully, no, when it is over, and finding the desire to begin. Although, I do not particularly have an affinity for writing I still believe that I deserve to pass ENG1020. I am a motivated student and I have consistently achieved high grades in the assignments. I achieved this with my reflective essay. In the reflective essay, I reviewed my work throughout the semester. I explained how my different writing pieces and satisfy all four learning objectives of the course and reflected upon how I can improve and can use what I learned in the future. Additionally, I looked at requirements that a reflection requires and tried to accomplish them all. In the reflective, I also based my work off the rubric and tried to finish the semester strongly and prove that I know how to evaluate my own learning and I do deserve to pass this …show more content…
My ability to research and determine if sources are legit has improved and it will be easier for me to write in the future. I have learnt that good college writing requires time and to write a good paper its best to write a little everyday rather than to get overwhelmed the day the assignment is due. I have learnt to plan my papers, and work based off the rubric. I still need to improve on my grammar because I have consistently lost points in the clear and effective writing section of each rubric. I mostly lose points for the portion that grades if the paper is polished and edited. I definitely need to improve my grammar and the technical details of writing. I have succeeded in this course because I have satisfied the learning objectives and finishing the class with a good

I also wanted to learn how to come up with topics and write about them easier. One last very important thing that I wanted to learn was how to prepare myself for college next year. After finishing Composition 1, I can say that I did accomplish all of those goals.…

Dear First Year Writing Assessment Committee: In this letter, I will explain my learning outcomes and experiences with my essays for English 1010. English 1010, defined by academic standards, is to develop in first-year college writers a deeper understanding of the complexities of writing through instruction and guided practice in the skills, processes, and strategies necessary for effective, successful writing. In my past semester of English 1010, I was able to demonstrate my abilities to be an effective writer and enhance my writing skills through guiding essay projects. I do believe my abilities were improved in topics including: finding the author’s purpose, explaining ideas, revising, editing, proofreading, organizing the structure of my paper, and etc.…

English composition was never my strong nor favorite because of my knowledge of the grammar and organization in my writing. Taking English 101 is a jump start for me, because last year of high school my teacher focused primarily on English literature. The course has introduced me to rhetorical analysis, and swatching (imitating author argument). Throughout the semester and all of the papers written I can say that it was a good experience to write at a college level and the expectation from college professors is good for future courses that involve writing essays.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

English 106 was the first real college class that I ever stepped foot in, and because of that, I was extremely nervous and unsure. The English teachers at my high school always said that the papers they assigned were held to college standards, and I always did well on those assignments, but I was still unsure about this course. I expected this course to be loaded with reading and writing assignments that would make me pull all-nighters on a regular basis. After going through English 106, I realized that there were not too many assignments and that I learned a lot from each one. To me, the most salient parts of this course were the discourse community paper, the annotated bibliography, the art analysis, peer reviews, revisions, and reflections.…

This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing. While in high school I would usually write all of my essays a day before the due date a habit of mine that was very difficult to overcome, but now I have learned from my mistakes.…
