In the year 2017 President Obama’s four year term will be over and a new President will settle into the Oval office. As of now there are three Republican candidates still fighting for a nomination, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, and finally Donald Trump. Trump has received harsh criticism in the past couple of months and is known to be a loose cannon. However, despite all of this he still has won more states then the rest of the Republican nominees. So the question must be asked; do we really want this man as our next Commander in Chief?
As far as eligibility, Donald Trump meets all requirements for a presidential candidate, but many people find his actions unpresidential. This is mostly related to the crude things he has been known to see over the past couple of months. For example, speaking one day in Iowa, Donald Trump said, “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose voters,” (Source 5). Donald Trump was looked down upon for this comment and definitely not the over-confidence that should be found in a President. He also has been accused of promoting violence at his rallies. Aside from his plan to build a wall to separate Mexico from the United States, Donald has very few policies. Also, he is not the best role model for young children growing up in present day America. Throughout American history, the President has been a figure for American’s to look up to and aspire to be like. However, Donald Trump is marked as a person who “Insults women, spews profanity, is on his third wife, and calls anyone who disagrees with him a “loser.”’ (Source 6). This is not someone to look up to in the slightest and definitely not what an authority figure a child should grow up
