In this image there are words such as on average, state tax, and federal tax to appeal to the consumer’s idea of saving money. Logos is used in the image by appealing to the consumer’s mindset of how much money they will save in the long run because of an initial investment. The only thing that is bolded in the image is the number ninety-four which would make it the main attraction of the image. Certain aspects of an image play an important part in bringing the message and expressing a particular purpose to the audience. As Bonterra presents the statement “Together we can change that” in the image, the viewer may make a logical connection between changing the fact that the state imports so much energy that the viewer uses when in fact there is so much energy here that can be harvested. While the use of logos is seen in this image, kairos, or the appeal to timeliness, also has a strong effect on the audience in this picture. Kairos is knowing what is most appropriate in a given situation (“Kairos”). In the image, there is a statement about how much energy the state of Hawaii imports and next to the statement is map of Hawaii.
