In English 1002 you learn a style of writing that is vastly different than the writing I did throughout high school and it varied slightly from the work we did in the Fall 2016 semester. Kingsolver is correct about America’s degrading basic survival competencies but comes off as a pretentious wide eyed idealist which leaves the reader reluctant to admit that she is right. Why? The argument presented by the text is compelling with examples of children who associated the dirt of growing food with something that is unsanitary or unsafe to consume. She further alludes to what we now call the “Purell Generation”, people so afraid of bacteria and germs they neglect or ignore the fact there are beneficial qualities to some of those elements.…

The rhetoric in practice project is the second major assignment within the class in which we have to create a work of our own choice and convey some sort of message about Carpe-diem. This project was created in order for us to display our understanding of rhetoric and carpe-diem along with our ability to put them to practice. This project was the first that had me really focus on our course theme of Carpe-diem. Throughout the course we covered many different works that conveyed their own interpretation of Carpe-diem. However there are a few similarities that they all share; that being their negative view of time/future, the lack of faith in a deity or fate, and that the ultimate goal in life is pleasure.…

Much to thy surprise, my course of events today became larger than expected! Just this morning, my fellow tradesmen and I paraded the streets of Rome, yet Flavius and Marullus, two tribunes, interrupted our celebrations. Scene I. Lines 10-11). Much to his surprise, however, I also included a pun about shoe soles to reveal his disheartened soul!…
