Until reading the first chapter about social problems, I was never aware of what goes into being able to consider an issue a social problem. Whenever I hear something on the news or read something online, I tend to follow suit with everyone else and agree there is a problem going on. I have never taken into consideration what makes me believe that there is a social problem or paid attention to how a social problem is announced; I simply take notice that there is an issue with something because I have been told so and move on. However, now that I have been introduced to what potentially makes an issue an actual social problem, I realize what makes me choose to believe what I have read or been told.
