As an incoming freshman in August of 2015 taking Rhetoric 105, I not only learned how to take apart papers, summarize, paraphrase, analyze and construct passages, but overall to be a great thinker. There are many ways that a person can tell you that works to become a better thinker, but it starts within you. While writing papers this fall semester, I learned that my writing became better when I a. understood what was being asked of me via the criteria, b. allowed myself to make mistakes in order to understand what I was and wasn 't doing correctly, c. I started to question myself, not in a way of was the work too hard, but in the sense of what the assignment and the thesis I am creating is asking. At this stage, you have to be completely real …show more content…
Asking for help from others and not just you professor help you to become a better thinker because you obtain ideas from friends, and you start to think differently and obtain ideas you didn 't even think you had. I myself was once a person who was afraid of asking for help, getting help, ideas, and criticism from others, Which the outcome of that was that it limited my ideas. I was too scared to allow a change within, that my papers suffered a bit. Don 't get me wrong, your ideas and thoughts are just as good as the person you are obtaining them from, but getting insight from another person may just be the cherry on top of your paper. In order to write an effective essay, The general way is to choose a topic, specifically something that interests you, secondly grab an outline. The outline you may feel you don 't need because it takes up extra time, but completing an outline is like completing the paper, the only thing left is to type it. Following the outline, brainstorm on a thesis. A thesis that you yourself can answer and analyze, yet not too easy for your professor to look at your paper as a "Duh" paper. Oh, I 'm sorry, a duh paper is a paper where the reader already knows the things you are saying and there are no analytical parts in it. What teacher wants a paper without the juicy …show more content…
In that paper, I discussed his ideas, doings, speeches and other things, yet I also discussed in my conclusion how Mandela 's ideas didn 't just help South Africa flourish, but the United Kingdom and our America. Moreover, don 't be afraid to add something within your paper, because even if you don 't understand how it ties back into your paper or help it, the professor will always have different viewpoints, ideas and etc, and who knows you adding that may give you some cool points or make up for other faults within your paper. Cough, cough, just because I say faults does not mean allow them to be in your paper, even though we all have made mistakes in papers, god knows I did. However, a good paper starts within yourself, as I previously stated allow change, create outlines, ask questions, not just to yourself, but to others. I allowed change, took the time to think, organize, and no matter what the grade is, whether it 's an A or B, maybe even a C it is teaching you how to be a better writer and grades do not show or dictate the amount of potential you have. Plus who likes C 's, so I know you will kick butt, just as I

Jed opened the front door of the 12Bar and gazed outside. Dark brown river water quietly and urgently filled the streets around the bar, tuning it into its own private island. The view reminded him of the “big flood” from eight years ago. That flood had devastated most of the area, but somehow had left the 12Bar intact. When Jed purchased the bar six months ago, the former owners assured him saying, “…that was a five-hundred year flood, it will never happen again in your lifetime.”…

I had three main goals for this semester: improved tone quality, blowing more air through the trumpet and playing in balance with the rest of the ensemble. I feel as if I have improved upon or met these three goals. For example, with blowing more air, I have changed my posture from last year. When playing, especially with wind ensemble, I have straightened up my back and sat up straight, as opposed to last year when I slouched a bit against the back of my chair and sagged my embouchure as a result. Now with my new posture I can get more air faster since my lungs are not collapsing, and my embouchure has also improved, opening my oral cavity and making my playing sound much better than before.…

Reaching out to people I don’t know is daunting, but my curiosity and excitement to meet new people outweighs my apprehension. I want campus life to motivate me to say, "Hey!"…

Upon completing a personal developments plan, which highlights leadership and management objectives I feel I need to further develop. I am now going to reflect upon these objectives in the following text. Lautebach and Becher (1996, cited in Howatson-jones, 2013) suggest that self-reflection is a critical activity for nurses in their caring for others and, because it connects those who practice it with their inner selves and truth, is transformational. In regards to leadership and management, Burns (2003, cited in Marquis & Huston, 2009, p42) identified that there is two primary types of leaders in management.…

Individual Retrospection: I feel that the labs in general went well, specifically the time that we had to brainstorm the different ideas that we had to come up with game idea we needed for the lab. The other part of the lab that went well was the the the information that was given was well understood and the lab leader was able to explain everything well and answer any questions that a raised. The biggest things that I think could have gone better or that I would change are the time limits that we had for each section of the lab. My team always felt behind because of the time limit placed on each part even though we worked on each section.…
