Rex Wells Character Analysis

Even if I don't think that Rex Wells is a fantastic father, it seems he truly tries to be a good father for his kids. In the end he isn't a good father since he is running away from bill collectors, making his Lori, Jeannette, Brian, and Maureen in the back trunk. What makes this scene makes him look like a bad father is when he blames them for the truck being open and how they(the kids could be thrown in jail) in page 50. Additionally to this he lets Jeannette play with fire after what happened. However, he still has his moments in which he is a good father. It also seems like Jeannette still thinks that her dad is amazing. I would say this because she seems to forgive her dad every time. However, she is his daughter so she can't really think

Both men grew up fatherless, grew up in Baltimore, and grew up in difficult circumstances, yet the author is a successful entrepreneur and veteran while the convict is in prison for life. Part of the reason this family did not have a lot of money was because their mom and dad did not have stable jobs, but what made a huge impact on how they were raised was the fact that their dad was an alcoholic. Rex’s drinking habits essentially marked the beginning of dark times for the Walls children. He knew his drinking was a problem, I believe he knew the extent of damage he was doing to his family, which is why he would disappear days at a time after going out to drink. Later on in The Glass Castle readers learn the physically and sexually abusive behaviors of Rex’s parents. When the kids’ grandparents tried to sexually assault them, Rex brushed it off and actually got mad at his kids rather than his parents.…

Throughout this episode I will be elaborating upon the techniques and expertise the great, Craig Silvey used throughout the book, Jasper Jones to portray the clear idea that people are quick to judge based on appearance and rumours. This was made possible through the use of the character Jasper Jones, who is constructed as an emotion and highly complex character who is directly affected by this horrible trait of human nature. Silvey, throughout the book and through a substantial yet clever use of textual and language features was able to portray this message in such a prolific way like he did. Teenagers through the development of jasper as a character can unmistakably notice the underlining aspect of human nature which is strongly embedded…
