Rewards And Pedometer-Feedback Intervention Model

This research study was conducted with the specific purpose of assessing the effectiveness of the rewards and pedometer-feedback intervention model on increasing physical activity in children. Six schools in Kuwait city took part in the study. 225 children were involved in the study including 115 girls and 110 boys, all between the ages of 9 and 11. The children were assigned at random to one group out of a total of three. The three groups were feedback with rewards (FB+R), feedback (FB) and control (C). The children in the FB+R group were educated on the operation of the pedometer and were told that if they built up 3000 step counts on the pedometer they would be rewarded with 10 stickers.
