During my senior year we had a completely new team composed of sophomores and juniors that have not played varsity before. My team had only three returning varsity players including me, return to play as a result of fourteen players graduating last year. Not only was our team young and inexperienced, but we were competing at a higher division from last year.
Once being selected Captain of the team, many individuals confidently asserted that the team will not accomplish anything, will not secure any favorable results, and will most likely be relegated back down a division. I wanted to be a leader that would give my teammates a sense of hope and determination every day, whether it was a game or a practice. During our practices I was encouraging my teammates to be determined to work hard while enjoying ourselves with laughter every once in awhile. Being the Captain of the team, I had to hold my teammates to higher standards while communicating a sincere love to each one of them to ensure a successful season. Our season was evidence of how rewarding determination and dedication can be. Our team may not be the most talented, but we have a fervent passion that has allowed us to be successful. We were ranked 14 out of 22 teams in Division 3 and have beat or tied Division 1
