Troops were not aloud to shoot the colonists even though they were uprising against the troops. In 1770, a Boston mob started throwing rocks and ice balls at the British troops. Then one of the colonists threw a British soldier to the ground and the troops shot out in a panic, causing five killed and ten injured. This was then called the Boston Massacre as people put it as a horrible incident that killed thousands. A man named John Adams believed that the British troops deserved to have a fair trial even if he didn’t agree with what they did. So the colonists hid their weapons and gunpowder somewhere the troops would never find them. So when Paul Revere yelled out that the British were coming, Lexington found out and went against the British but were soon shot down and killed. Soon enough the British made it to Concord and searched the place immediately looking for the gunpowder and weapons. So the British soldiers set tools, tents, and gun carriages on fire when not able to find the weapons and gunpowder.
