Revolution Movie Analysis

Revolution is a movie about a New York trapper named Tom Dobb and his son Ned. Ned becomes involved in the revolution by signing up for the continental army. Tom realizes that his son has made a wrong choice, so he tries to get his son out of the army. But this makes the situation worse and Tom is forced to sign up for the continental army as well. Now both Tom and his son, Ned, are part of the continental army. This begins a long journey as they fight for freedom for the Colonies. The first scene in the film begins with the colonists tearing down a statue of the King of England. This is a time when the colonists are just beginning to rebel against the British. Ned bites one of the officers hands and is whipped on the bottom of his feet. They leave him outside all night, until Tom finds Ned and cuts the rope from his hands and feet. Tom carries Ned out of the camp, and another boy, Merle, escapes with them. Throughout their escape, the boys encountered two groups of natives. Tom stabs the first group of natives (Iroquois) with a small knife. Shortly after another group of natives arrive and Tom makes peace with them. Tom and Ned are fighting side by side and they end up winning the battle of Yorktown. There are hundreds of wounded and dead men everywhere on the ground. Then the scene cuts to the streets of New York where everyone is celebrating the American’s victory at Yorktown. Tom ends up cashing in his check for the boat that he had given to the army, and he gives the money to his son. Ned and his wife, who is now pregnant, end up leaving New York. Tom stays behind so that he can learn how to read. While on the streets of New York he comes across Daisy, they hug, and the movie is
