Throughout George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm, the revolution of 1917 is being presented, in the form of animals. There is an obvious evolution of society from a democracy to a dictatorship. Old major had a dream where all the animals are living together, without humans suppressing them; now Snowball and Napoleon are dedicated to achieving Majors’ dream. Snowball is betrayed by Napoleon thus for ore power and control. Old Majors had a dream, where all the animals lived together and were free. In Majors dream the animals were not suppressed by the humans. Old Major speaks to the animals saying how there will be a time, when his dream will come true even when he is not with them. Old Major stated “Man is our real enemy we have. Remove man from the scene and the root of hunger and overwork is abolished forever” (4). Old Major dies, now Napoleon and Snowball are spreading the teachings of Old Major. The animals have meetings, several nights a week, in the barn; when Mr. Jones is asleep. Seven commandments are made to unite the animals “All animals are equal; whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings is a friend” (15). The seven commandments are made so that animals would follow them and act upon them. Animals ruling the farm without humans help. When there is no human on the farm, the farm is fitter than ever. “Sometimes the work was hard; the implements had been designed for human beings and not for animals” (17). The animals finished the harvest faster, than Mr. Jones and his men would. Where there were tasks that needed humans for it, the pigs would find ways around it. The animals work harder and quicker than, when Jones was here. The animals are doing everything that a human can perform, even when it’s difficult to
