Revitalization
In many places around the country there are areas that are falling apart and becoming run down. Most of these areas are poor cities that are suffering from poverty. People within the community are trying to bring their city back to life and help end poverty by fixing neighborhoods and building newer buildings. This process is known as revitalization. Because revitalization brings in more businesses, involves the community and helps end poverty we as a whole should encourage it in our cities and neighborhoods. In poor cities like Goldsboro there are higher rates of unemployment and homeless people. Within Goldsboro there are “25.7%” of people in poverty (United States Census Bureau, QuickFacts). With the aids of volunteers this percentage can be lowered. Many people volunteer every day, but not everyone is aware of all their volunteer opportunities. Not many people are aware of how they can help their community. “Volunteers have an enormous impact on the health and well-being of communities worldwide” (idealist, why is volunteering important?). People can volunteer to simply “keep our neighborhoods, streets, parks, rivers, greenspaces, and water clean and safe for everyone” (idealist, why is volunteering important?). People can volunteer to “educate on public health and safety” (idealist, why volunteering is important). Building houses is just one of the examples that volunteers can help do when trying to bring back their …show more content…
With the expansion of businesses and people there will be more jobs that can be taken by people who need them. With more people comes more opportunities for the city to grow and expand. As the community grows more and more people begin to need jobs and create more opportunities. People without jobs will be able to make a living working for companies that might invest in the city or big businesses that decide to move into
