Revising Reflection

Improved Essays
Through the process of revising, I have learned that it is important to consider all possible feedback given to you by peers and the instructor. With the feedback that I receive, I was able to reevaluate my mistakes or revise a paragraph that may need clarification. In my first essay draft, I was able to receive effective feedback on areas that I needed to revise and it helped improve my transitions in my second draft. From the revising process, I have learned that the way I revise my essays is different from when my peers revise my essays. My instructor and peers are able to discover omitted parts and mistakes in my essay which I would not find when revising my papers. During my writing process, I have learned that I would write down ideas

In her 1980 article, Sommers realized through her case study, that “students understand the revision process as a rewording activity” (p. 381). Which means that when first-year college students revise, they simply change words around and try to get the ideas accurate on the text because they have not developed the ability to review their work, and redo it if necessary (p. 382). Instead, she argues that students should see revision “as an activity in which they modify and develop perspectives and ideas” (p. 382). She argues this because students should develop their arguments on their writing pieces during revision to prove their thesis statement better, rather than simply reword their paragraphs to make their writing pieces sound better. Sommers believes in her 1980 article that first-year college students should develop the ability to see revision as a process to approach revision…

Final Reflection The rewriting process, or final revising process, was much different this time around versus just normal revilement. I had to think of two more creative ways to rewrite a paper abut the same subject. There are only so many new innovative ideas that I can create that is centered around the same central topic, besides experimental film. Having to revise (rewrite) two essays took up a lot of creative juice but eventually I realized I had a lot of wiggle room when it came to rewriting them.…

It seems it is as though good thoughts come in short bursts and it is hard to have a good story revolve around one great moment. With that said, I try to keep good ideas and piece them together one by one to create something manageable. Sometimes it works out just fine, but the majority of the time these ideas become scrapped and are recycled for something else entirely. I have a habit of writing with music, the sounds encompass a tone that I wish to put down on paper. Certain beats and sounds trigger a specific response in my thoughts and in turn as I write down my thoughts my writing becomes more fluid thanks to the music.…

Writing is an art; we create our thoughts in your mind and express it on paper. Once we start writing we keep getting new ideas and when we re-read what we wrote, sometimes it might surprise us. I like to write during early mornings or in the evening when it is quiet. My reading table is facing towards the window so when fresh air is in my room, fresh ideas generate inside me as well. I make sure to have some healthy snacks and a bottle of water in front me…

Didion mentions writing to “find out what [she’s] thinking, what [she’s] looking at,[...] and what it means”(Didion). While my situation is not as dire, writing supplements my ability to think critically. In my head, I think about one idea at a time. On paper, these ideas all gather together. A writing piece is like a graph to me; unorganized, listed numbers are hard to derive data from, but a bar graph allows the viewer to notice patterns, trends, and create their own interpretation of the data because they can view it all at once.…

This step has significance because it helps me remember all of the thoughts I had. After I have the ideas on paper I can then plan or organize my thoughts usually into the different paragraphs. I also think of a thesis and write down my main points that I would like to discuss in my paragraphs. After creating a plan i then began to write my rough draft. When doing so I try to not focus on the quality of my work more of the quantity.…

Personally, my weakness would always be forming the structure and have the same style of writing. With the cycles from EliReview, it allowed me to explore other student’s writings, which makes me realize other styles I can incorporate into my writing. In addition, I noticed my structure of writing improved exponentially due to the fact the cycle required the second draft in the same week, forcing me to edit my draft, which results in improvement of my writing structure. I did not include an essay for the portfolium project, but if I was to include one it would definitely be the Review Annotated Bibliography 2 as it was my second time writing a similar assignment, which would make it my strongest essay. This is not only my strongest essay,…

Mistakes cannot always be seen as a negative, as you can move on and correct them to better your knowledge. The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…
