As the house lights are gradually lowered in the Glenelg Country School auditorium, the audience’s effervescent chattering falls to a hush and all that can be heard is one voice somewhere in the theatre, enchanting the audience. The spectators listen intently as the voice travels throughout the theatre, until suddenly, a single spotlight illuminates a middle-aged man sitting on a worn armchair playing the soundtrack of his favorite musical on his antique turntable. So begins Gelnelg Country School’s performance of “The Drowsy Chaperone”. Written by Bob Martin and Don McKeller and music by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, the musical follows the story of an antisocial man as he provides hilarious commentary on his favorite musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone” while listening to its soundtrack on a record player in his quaint apartment. The production of Frankenstein at Fossil Ridge High School on November 18th proved to be an entertaining theatre experience. Frankenstein retells the classic story by Mary Shelley. It follows the story of a creature after he was created by a character named Victor Frankenstein. The story depicts the heartbreaking evolution of the creature, as he begins the story an innocent being not knowing how to walk or talk, and ends the play as a monstrous killer. This production of Frankenstein was engaging and a pleasure to attend despite its imperfections.…
The Villa Savoye is one of the most important modern buildings of the 20th century which incorporated the Le Corbusier’s five principal points of architecture, and it could be the perfect realization of Le Corbusier's principles. This building is located outside of Paris and offers a space for occupants to escape from the crowded Paris. The location of the villa helped Le Corbusier to have freedom in design in order to create a masterpiece which would truly stand the test of time.
