The beginning of this book is quite interesting. But it got boring very fast. As with every dystopian novel, it follows the exact same plot. A totalitarian government. Teens who know the truth. The people figure out. There is widespread chaos. Etc., etc. … Well, that is pretty much this book’s plot.
It is a story set in the future where there is an oxygen problem. Some scientists thought that killing all the trees is a great idea, because water absorbs carbon dioxide, right? Wrong. These scientists were proved wrong when the oxygen levels dropped dangerously low. A company figured out a way to generate oxygen and has built a “pod” for the people

The story is quite a good concept, but was poorly executed. Some gaps in the story just male no sense. Who is Petra? How do Inger and Silas magically come out of nowhere to save Quinn? How did Abel just run out of air like that? The story just made no sense. Now the characters also had some gaps in them. Abel (another insignificant character) sneaked tree branches out of the pod, but a newscast later revealed that “Suspected terrorist Abel Boone, a member of the Rebel Army Terrorist Sect, was found dead today. It is believed he ran out of air…” How did all of this happen? The story tells us how Abel steals tree clippings and throws a rock at a camera, but it ends up hitting somebody’s head. It didn’t tell me what Abel did after that. How could I possibly know that anything happened when the story talks about an honors program for high school students who the government selects to become Breathe officials in that part of the story? Petra, the leader of the RATS (Rebel Army Terrorist Sect), didn’t do much in the story other than bring Maude and Alina into a dark room, and shout at the members of the RATS. She was a very underdeveloped character and not much is known about

As a result of the disrespect to the Code of the Marines and chain of command. Lieutenant Kendrick and Colonel Nathan Jessep came up with a plan. They deemed it fit that Santiago participate in “training”, with the hopes of becoming a “better Marine” he claims. However in my opinion both Lance Corporal Harold Dawson and Private Lowden Downey were directed to assault Santiago with the hopes of stopping him from revealing the illegal activities going on in the base. The defendants illegally order a “code red”.…

Title: “Taming The Star Runner” The title makes me wonder what kind of horse The Star Runner was. It sparks my interest and makes me also wonder how he tamed the Star Runner. The title fits well with the book because in the book the main character was untamable like the Star Runner. I was excited to read another S.E. Hinton book.…

Can you imagine our world destroyed to its bare core? Can you think of ways and reasons why society would allow the world to fall into apocalyptic times? Much more like the famous quote by Albert Einstein, “I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones” (22). In the book The Road by Cormac McCarthy, the reader is placed in the aftermath of a catastrophic war that left the world in ruins such as in an apocalyptic manner. The book depicts the ordeal of a father and son trying to recuperate what these disastrous events took from them.…

When a mention of the future is made, one might be enthralled over the plethora of groundbreaking technology which could exist by then, but to author Ray Bradbury, this is no source of excitement. In his novel, Fahrenheit 451, he sees past the benefits which technology brings forth and exposes its drawbacks. He notes how people have become addicted and overly reliant on technology, turning away from reading books which, in turn, cultivated their critical thought and individualism. Such a vision is undoubtedly astonishing; in looking at the developed societies of today, the effects of technology on the populaces so uncannily resemble those described by Bradbury in Fahrenheit 451, showing that the future which he so desperately tried to prevent…

Made me feel like I was actually there experiencing the struggle the jews had to go through. I feel as though the treatment was harsh and unnecessary, because all people should be treated equally regardless of one 's race. No human being should ever be left to starve, or freeze to death, or be treated as animals,or being confined to a small area.…
