In the movie Jerry Travers, played by actor Fred Astaire, who is a dance that goes to London to perform in a show. The show is being produced by his friend Horace Hardwick, and he wants to keep Jerry being there a secret. While Jerry is in London, he meets Dale Tremont, played by actress Ginger Rogers, and tried to impress her. He meets her by accident because his tap dancing woke her up, and she storms up to his room to tell him off. She then proceeds to mistake him for his friend Horace, who happens to be a married man. Jerry begins to woo her, and Dale believes he wants to cheat on his wife. An so the film continues on like that, with Jerry flirting with Dale, and Dale thinking he has been cheating on his wife.
