Elie Wiesel’s Night teaches about the Holocaust from the perspective of a Jewish boy named Eliezer. Reading and analyzing Night has conveyed points about the Holocaust that differ from topics that I have studied in the past. The main point of my analyzation of Night is the dehumanization of the Nazis’ victims, mainly in concentration camps. Many past Holocaust books and movies that I have studied focus more on the events that happen before the concentration camps, but Night takes place almost entirely in the camps. It helps me to see the Holocaust from a different perspective than the one that I have been seeing it from every year.…

The Holocaust's have burned people in the crematorium, beat innocent Jews, and shot numerous children, and hung the “guilty”. For instance, “...hanged boy and stared at his extinguished eyes, the tongue hanging from his gaping mouth... the soup tasted better than ever”(Weisel 63). This quote is basically explaining that none of the Jews were shocked and acted as if they were used to this everyday. In fact when he says “the soup tasted better” he means to emphasize that the Jews were constantly dying, which made Eliezer see death everyday; therefore he stopped being affected.…

When he was home he would pray and often begin crying (4). He said that “he felt a need to cry” (4), but when the holocaust happened he soon began to question his faith. Like when he arrived at his first concentration camp he said that he would “never shall I forget those moments that murdered my god” (34). After this he went back and forth from praying to God, to wanting to rebel with every fiber of his being (67). By the time he was liberated we are left unsure on what his stance with God is.…

In the memoir, “Night”, Elie Wiesel is faced with the struggles of going into concentration camps such as Auschwitz, Buna, and others in late World War II. During the holocaust, because of the lack of modern technology, no other countries knew about what was happening to the Jewish prisoners in these camps. However, Elie Wiesel was not the only one who was struck with devastation in these times of unknown crisis. Other Holocaust victims lost faith in not just their surroundings, but in themselves as well.
