My first piece of evidence to prove that there is humor in this is the huge number of contradictory statements. For example in the beginning the text says, “One fine day, in the middle of the night” The poem is already contradicting itself by saying its daytime in the middle of the night. On line three of the poem the text says, “Back to back they faced each other.” This is also contradictory because if their backs are together then they can’t possibly be facing each other. Two lines after that, the poem states that “A blind man went to see fair play.” But the problem with this is that blind people cannot see, therefore making them unable to judge a games rules. A couple lines later it says, “A paralyzed donkey passing by” but this is impossible, if the donkey was paralyzed then it should be unable to move! Then this magical paralyzed donkey “Kicked the blind man in the eye” (I wonder if he lost his vision) The people proceed to fall into a dry ditch and drown, however this cannot be possible because if the ditch was dry then there would be no water in it, therefore making it impossible to drown in.
