Friends stick together in times of trouble, and when Wilbur was about to be killed, his good friend was there to help him. She devoted half of her life from the summer to the fair, to helping her best friend. For this, Wilbur owed her a debt of gratitude. Charlotte was a true friend to Wilbur, and the author wants people to be like Charlotte to their friends. To be a Charlotte means helping your friends out, like helping them finish an important project or even being there to talk to when your friend is troubled. Charlotte is a true example of a friend. The author weaved together a tale of friendship through Charlotte and Wilbur. Imagine if we were all like Charlotte. We would be looking out for one another and the world would be a better place. We would all be friends and at peace. That is, I think, the message that the author wanted to state in his beautiful tale of friendship until the end. Wilbur was very lucky to have a friend like Charlotte. We should all be like Charlotte to our

It illustrates the increasing loss of innocence by manifesting only after an act of true evil was committed- the “raping” of the sow. When Simon first discovers it, it “speaks” to him by way of a hallucination caused by his epilepsy, and introduces itself as the "Beastie" (Elliott, Joyce, Shorvon, “Delusions”). This is ironic as the Lord of the Flies is composed of a truly innocent creature- the murdered sow. That the boys are determined to kill it suggests that they are intent on destroying innocence as opposed to evil, which is what they believe they are hunting. Simon still retains his innocence due to his isolated behavior and epilepsy.…

The character of Templeton the Rat in Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White, serves as representation of the dark, evil, immoral side of human nature within the earnest, kind and friendly community of the barn in order to portray both sides of human nature. By including a character such as Templeton in this community, it illustrates the idea that everyone has the characteristics of Templeton and the other barn animals inside oneself, but what matter’s most is not whether or not you have them, but rather to what degree you act upon them.
