I’m going to explain the book's protagonist and her name is (cue the dramatic music) Lena Duchannes! She is a 16 year old girl who was born into a magical family. She is in 7th grade and she lives with her uncle the supposing town hermit who has never been seen. (Well people have claimed to see him).

Until Lena moved to his town that is. When she arrived no one knew anything about her except that she was the niece of the town hermit Macon Ravenwood. Ethan had a class with her and the other girls in his class noticeably bullied her. Lena got up and walked over the the sharpener and pretended to sharpen her pencil, but they continued and (her being magical and all) accidentally used her powers to shatter all the windows in the room.
The movie (in my opinion) was terrible! In the end instead of them continuing the adventure (like in the book) she wipes his memory. In the movie everything was out of order. In the book Seraphine Lena mother kills him by stabbing him but in the movie she has someone under her control who shoots him with a gun.
I rate this book 10 out of 10. This has got to be the best book ever created. What my favorite part is when she gets into a battle with her mother Seraphine. Her mother ends up killing Ethan to try and get her to join the dark casters. Then Lena rages out and covers the moon so she can’t turn evil. If you are a fan of magic and Good vrs. Evil then you should definitely read Beautiful
