Jaylent is a 7-year-old male of Hispanic Heritage who lives with his Biological mother (Ms. Torres), Biological Father, Grandmother and 9-year-old sister in the Bronx. Jaylent was referred to Ittleson Center Day Treatment program by (PS/MS 37) school Psychologist; PS/MS 37 is the school Jaylent has attended since the 1st grade. Prior to attending PS/MS 37 Jaylent attended PS207. Jermello greeted therapist and was egared to learn and participate in the activity. Jeremello later became frustrated when he was having difficulties with the activity because it did not turn out the way he wanted it to. Therapist explained the importance of understanding life and how things will not always go his way. Therapist reminded Jermello of possible ways to deal with stress and frustration. It then goes on to state that while in this classroom, her teacher instituted a variety of behavioral management plans to aid Kimika in controlling her violent outbursts and to provide motivation for her to complete required tasks. The case study stated that as Kimika grew older, her “violent outbursts and apathetic work behavior increased”. She then spent some time in a special classroom for older students with “trainable mental retardation”. She had many struggles within this classroom and ultimately, the special education supervisor moved her from this special education classroom to a “more restrictive” setting. Kelvin’s behaviour Throughout the year, the class team has tried its best to help Kelvin modify his challenging behaviour. He has his good days but he often doesn’t seem to listen to what the class team says to him and thus no improvement was shown. When kelvin sees a peer demonstrate inappropriate behaviour, he still tends to copy it. Like for example, he stands up and goes around the class when the children are supposed to stay seated, he hands over the copy books directly to the teacher when he is supposed to wait for a peer to collect them, he interrupts his teacher when she is delivering a lesson explanation and there were instances when he also says rude words.…
